Ebola virus is primarily transmitted to humans through close contact with the blood, secretions, organs, or other bodily fluids of infected animals such as fruit bats, chimpanzees, and gorillas. Human-to-human transmission occurs via direct contact with the blood or bodily fluids of infected individuals, or through contact with contaminated surfaces and materials, such as bedding and clothing. Healthcare workers and family members are at high risk if proper infection control measures are not in place.
