SSRIs work by increasing the level of serotonin in the brain, a neurotransmitter associated with mood regulation. Common SSRIs include Fluoxetine, Sertraline, and Citalopram. These medications are prescribed for a variety of mental health conditions, primarily Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), but also anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
