OGTT is one of several tests used to diagnose glucose metabolism disorders: - Fasting Plasma Glucose (FPG): Measures blood glucose after an 8-hour fast. It is less cumbersome but may miss cases of impaired glucose tolerance. - Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c): Reflects average blood glucose levels over the past 2-3 months. It is convenient and does not require fasting, but may be less sensitive in detecting early glucose abnormalities. - Random Plasma Glucose (RPG): Measures blood glucose at any time, regardless of fasting. It is useful for diagnosing overt diabetes but is not suitable for screening.
