Varicella, commonly known as chickenpox, is a highly contagious infectious disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It primarily affects children but can also infect adults who haven't been previously exposed or vaccinated. The disease manifests as a characteristic itchy rash with red spots and fluid-filled blisters.
