Trichophyton tonsurans is a species of fungi that primarily causes infections in the skin, hair, and nails. It is a common causative agent of tinea capitis (scalp ringworm), particularly in children, and can also cause onychomycosis (nail infection) and tinea corporis (ringworm of the body).
