What is the Difference Between Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sanitizing?
- Cleaning: Removal of visible dirt, dust, and debris from surfaces. It does not necessarily kill pathogens. - Disinfecting: Killing of pathogens on surfaces using chemical agents. It is more intense than cleaning and aims to reduce the risk of infection. - Sanitizing: Reducing the number of pathogens to a safe level as determined by public health standards. It is less intense than disinfecting.
