Adaptive immunity consists of two main components: humoral immunity and cell-mediated immunity. Humoral immunity is mediated by antibodies produced by B cells, which neutralize pathogens and mark them for destruction. Cell-mediated immunity, on the other hand, is driven by T cells, which can directly kill infected cells or help activate other immune cells.
