Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) are a measure used in epidemiology and public health to quantify the burden of disease. A DALY combines the years of life lost (YLL) due to premature mortality and the years lived with disability (YLD) in a single, comprehensive metric. Essentially, one DALY represents the loss of one year of ‘healthy’ life.
