COVID-19 antigen tests are diagnostic tools used to detect the presence of specific proteins from the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Unlike PCR tests, which detect viral RNA, antigen tests identify viral proteins, usually from a nasal or throat swab sample. These tests are designed for rapid detection and are often referred to as "rapid tests".
