CAUTIs are among the most common types of HAIs. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), they account for over 75% of urinary tract infections acquired in hospitals. Epidemiological studies suggest that nearly 15-25% of hospitalized patients receive urinary catheters during their stay, and the risk of developing a CAUTI increases with the duration of catheterization.
