Transmission of T. rubrum occurs mainly through direct contact with infected individuals or via contact with contaminated surfaces and objects such as towels, shoes, and shower floors. The fungus can also spread through contact with infected animals, although this is less common. Poor hygiene practices and communal living conditions can facilitate the spread of this organism.
