Airborne transmission of pathogens can be significantly influenced by the quality of ventilation. Poorly ventilated spaces allow infectious particles to accumulate, increasing the risk of exposure for occupants. Conversely, well-ventilated areas facilitate the dispersal and removal of these particles, lowering the concentration of pathogens in the air. Studies have shown that adequate ventilation can reduce the basic reproduction number (R0) of infectious diseases, making it harder for an outbreak to sustain itself.
