Sensitivity and specificity are both measures used to evaluate diagnostic tests, but they focus on different aspects. While sensitivity measures the ability of a test to identify true positives, specificity measures the ability to correctly identify those who do not have the disease (true negatives). In many cases, there is a trade-off between sensitivity and specificity; increasing one often results in decreasing the other.
