Outpatient ILI surveillance: Data from outpatient healthcare providers who report the number of patients presenting with influenza-like illness. Laboratory surveillance: Results from clinical and public health laboratories that test for influenza viruses. Hospitalization surveillance: Information on influenza-associated hospitalizations from a network of hospitals. Mortality surveillance: Data on deaths attributed to influenza and pneumonia. Geographic spread: Reports from state and territorial health departments on the spread of flu activity in their areas.
