How Do Epidemiologists Measure Disease Occurrence?
Several metrics are used to measure disease occurrence:
Incidence Rate: The number of new cases of a disease that occur in a specified population during a defined time period. Prevalence: The total number of cases of a disease existing in a population at a specific time. Mortality Rate: The number of deaths due to a disease in a given population during a specific period. Case Fatality Rate: The proportion of individuals diagnosed with a disease who die from that disease.
