hospitalization and mortality rates
How are Mortality Rates Calculated?
Mortality rates are calculated using the formula:
Mortality Rate = (Number of Deaths / Population at Risk) Ã 100,000
For instance, if a country with a population of 50,000,000 reports 150,000 deaths in a year, the mortality rate would be:
(150,000 / 50,000,000) Ã 100,000 = 300 per 100,000
