Transmission of CoNS occurs primarily through direct contact. Healthcare workers can inadvertently facilitate the spread, especially in a hospital setting. Contaminated medical devices, such as catheters and prosthetic implants, are common sources of infection. The bacteria can enter the bloodstream or other sterile body sites, leading to serious infections.
