Several organizations play a role in setting and enforcing RELs. In the United States, NIOSH recommends exposure limits, while the OSHA is responsible for enforcing these limits through regulations known as Permissible Exposure Limits (PELs). Other international bodies, such as the WHO and the ILO, also provide guidelines and recommendations.
