The Institute of Medicine (IOM), now known as the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), is a part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. It was established in 1970 to provide independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation on matters related to health and medicine. The IOM aims to improve public health and healthcare through rigorous research and evidence-based recommendations.
