Taenia solium is endemic in regions where pork is consumed and where sanitary conditions are inadequate. It is particularly prevalent in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia. The incidence is higher in rural areas with poor sanitation and where pigs are allowed to roam freely, increasing the risk of them ingesting human feces contaminated with Taenia solium eggs.
