Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) is a public health intervention aimed at preventing malaria in children under the age of five during the high transmission season. This preventive strategy involves administering full therapeutic courses of antimalarial drugs at monthly intervals to children. SMC is particularly effective in the Sahel region of Africa where malaria transmission is highly seasonal.
