Leishmaniasis is a neglected tropical disease caused by protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania. This disease is transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female phlebotomine sandflies. It manifests in three main forms: cutaneous, mucocutaneous, and visceral leishmaniasis.
