Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a condition where the force of the blood against the artery walls is consistently too high. It is a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). Blood pressure is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) and is recorded with two numbers: systolic and diastolic pressure.
