Variants of Concern (VOC) refer to strains of a virus that have mutations which may affect virus characteristics such as transmissibility, disease severity, immune escape, diagnostic or therapeutic escape. These variants are identified through genomic sequencing and are closely monitored by health authorities worldwide.
