Despite its simplicity, the crude death rate has several limitations:
It does not account for differences in age structure across populations. For instance, older populations are likely to have higher crude death rates simply because mortality increases with age. It does not differentiate between the causes of death, making it less informative for understanding specific health issues. It may not accurately reflect the mortality risk of subgroups within the population, such as age-specific or sex-specific mortality rates.
