The transfer of maternal immunity primarily occurs in two ways:
Transplacental Transfer: During pregnancy, antibodies, particularly Immunoglobulin G (IgG), are transferred from the mother to the fetus through the placenta. Breastfeeding: Postpartum, the mother continues to provide antibodies, especially Immunoglobulin A (IgA), through breast milk, which helps protect the infant against gastrointestinal infections.
