GISRS operates through a network of over 150 institutions in more than 110 countries, including National Influenza Centers (NICs), WHO Collaborating Centers, and Essential Regulatory Laboratories. These institutions collect and analyze influenza virus samples, share data with WHO, and contribute to the development of influenza vaccines. The system is structured to ensure a rapid response to influenza outbreaks and the continuous update of influenza vaccines based on the most recent virus strains.
