disease carrying insects

How Do Insects Transmit Diseases?

Insects transmit diseases primarily through two mechanisms: biological transmission and mechanical transmission.
Biological Transmission: In this method, the pathogen undergoes part of its life cycle within the insect vector. For example, the Anopheles mosquito carries the malaria parasite, Plasmodium, which develops within the mosquito before being transmitted to humans.
Mechanical Transmission: Here, the insect carries the pathogen on its body without any biological development occurring. For instance, houseflies can carry bacteria from feces to food, leading to foodborne illnesses.
