How Do Epidemiologists Measure the Impact of Interventions?
Epidemiologists use various metrics to measure the impact of therapeutic interventions. These include the incidence rate, which measures new cases of a disease; the prevalence rate, which measures the total number of cases; and the mortality rate, which measures deaths due to the disease. Other important metrics include the number needed to treat (NNT) and the number needed to harm (NNH), which help in understanding the balance between benefits and risks.
