How did Sabin's Vaccine Differ from Salk's Vaccine?
Before Sabin's contribution, the first successful polio vaccine was developed by Jonas Salk in the early 1950s. Salk's vaccine was an injected, inactivated form that provided immunity against polio. In contrast, Sabin's vaccine was an oral live attenuated vaccine, which meant it used a weakened form of the virus to elicit an immune response without causing the disease.
